[MOMS WITH CAMERAS] Newborn Photography

You wouldn’t think that a brand new baby would be a difficult subject to photograph.  They’re sweet, cuddly, and oh-so tiny.  But what we come to find out is that babies, most definitely, are some of the most difficult subjects to shoot.  After all, they cry, they wiggle, they fuss and if you’re lucky, they’ll soil your shirt or a blanket..or two.

These two talented ladies, who specialize in newborn photography, have teamed up to show us the art of calming, soothing, and relaxing a baby to capture that picture of perfection.

I’m a big tough 26 year old dude but aaaaaarghh babies are too cute!!!
So please stop putting them into baskets and such, i can’t handle that added level of cuteness!

Anyway… Good episode, keep ‘em coming!

Great episode! So talented….and what an offering of inspiration.

Question though…can anyone help me out on what type of beanbag they said they used? I’ve replayed it several times and think that I hear “pot style.” Yet when I search for it on beanbags.com I can’t find anything like that.

  13. Mona Alicia says:

First I’d like to say that I love Melissa! Your hair always looks gorgeous and I love your speaking style! Thank you Framed for this video (and all the others). I am loving these every week and this week especially!

  16. Tina says:

To answer above – “puck style” and it’s from beanbags dot com (don’t know if I can post a link here)

    I loved this episode!!

I would love to know the place to get the wood look background. It looks much smaller than the one I have and more rich as well.

  17. Michael says:

+1 on that wood background, love that!

Great episode and I love the emphasis on natural light shooting with newborns. I’m always afraid of using strobes around them, but once they get to sleep they don’t seem to mind too much.

  18. Michelle says:

I’d also love to know the name/source of the wood background. Can you share?

Loved this episode! Thanks for all you do!!!

  19. Joan Hammer says:

    Amanda, This was incredible!
I just watched and enjoyed immensely!!!

  20. Jose Alvarez says:

Awesome, I learn a lot Thanks.

  21. [...] This post is actually a little late as I did this shoot a couple weeks ago now but I hadn’t gotten around to blogging about it. This was my first official newborn shoot. I actually did quite a bit of reading about newborn photography before going to this shoot just so I had a little heads-up before jumping in. I think the best material I found was from The Framed Show, more specifically the episode dedicated to two photographers that specialize in this unique field (view the video here). [...]

  22. Awesome show!! I am so inspired! Can’t wait for the next newborn shooting!

  23. Laura Farris says:

We got the wood floor and backdrop at pepperlu! -Laura

  24. Tanya says:

Thank you so much for the fantastic video and for sharing your experience with us! I’m a beginner in a newborn photography and this video was very helpful for me, especially safety info and posing! Can’t wait for my next newborn session!

  25. Philip says:

    whats the song?

  26. Rhonda says:

I wish they’d mention something- Anything- about the baby’s safety as a priority. Great job otherwise.
