wouldn’t think that a brand new baby would be a difficult subject to photograph. They’re sweet, cuddly, and oh-so tiny. But what we come to find out is that babies, most definitely, are some of the most difficult subjects to shoot. After all, they cry, they wiggle, they fuss and if you’re lucky, they’ll soil your shirt or a blanket..or two.
These two talented ladies, who specialize in newborn photography, have teamed up to show us the art of calming, soothing, and relaxing a baby to capture that picture of perfection.

What a special episode and a special gift these two photographers posess!
Huge fan of both photographers and thank you Framed, Laura, and Amanda for this inspiring show!
I can’t believe that’s my friend!!! WAY to GO, Amanda!!! You did awesome!!!
And way to go, Framed – you guys are rockin’ it!!!
Awesome episode! I loved every second of it!
Love, love this episode! Two of my very favorite photographers, it was so great to see them in action. They are such beautiful and inspiring women, love that they are so willing to share their special gift with us!
Wow! That had me “oooooing” and “aaaaahhhhhing” out loud. And those ladies are consummate pros – they have thought of everything. Very educational and fun to watch.
Wowow! I loved it! I am sooo inspired! Thank you FRAMED!
I’m so proud of you, Amanda! This is awesome! And I’m spreading the word as far as I can…..
I’m a big tough 26 year old dude but aaaaaarghh babies are too cute!!!
So please stop putting them into baskets and such, i can’t handle that added level of cuteness!
Anyway… Good episode, keep ‘em coming!
Amanda is my personal photographer and I love her so much she has so much talent and i am so happy you guys highlighted her through the show what a hard worker!!
All of you guys were so very fun to work with. Amanda and I had so much fun. You did a great job putting it all together too. Thanks for such a great opportunity!
Great episode! So talented….and what an offering of inspiration.
Question though…can anyone help me out on what type of beanbag they said they used? I’ve replayed it several times and think that I hear “pot style.” Yet when I search for it on beanbags.com I can’t find anything like that.
I think she says “puck” style…I did find a puck- shaped one on the site. I wondered too!!
First I’d like to say that I love Melissa! Your hair always looks gorgeous and I love your speaking style! Thank you Framed for this video (and all the others). I am loving these every week and this week especially!
Thank you so much for this video! I really enjoyed it. I love discovering new newborn photographers and those two are pretty awesome
What a great program and what talented photographers!

To answer above – “puck style” and it’s from beanbags dot com (don’t know if I can post a link here)
I loved this episode!!
I would love to know the place to get the wood look background. It looks much smaller than the one I have and more rich as well.
+1 on that wood background, love that!
Great episode and I love the emphasis on natural light shooting with newborns. I’m always afraid of using strobes around them, but once they get to sleep they don’t seem to mind too much.
I’d also love to know the name/source of the wood background. Can you share?
Loved this episode! Thanks for all you do!!!
Amanda, This was incredible!
I just watched and enjoyed immensely!!!
Awesome, I learn a lot Thanks.
[...] This post is actually a little late as I did this shoot a couple weeks ago now but I hadn’t gotten around to blogging about it. This was my first official newborn shoot. I actually did quite a bit of reading about newborn photography before going to this shoot just so I had a little heads-up before jumping in. I think the best material I found was from The Framed Show, more specifically the episode dedicated to two photographers that specialize in this unique field (view the video here). [...]
Awesome show!! I am so inspired! Can’t wait for the next newborn shooting!
We got the wood floor and backdrop at pepperlu! -Laura
Thank you so much for the fantastic video and for sharing your experience with us! I’m a beginner in a newborn photography and this video was very helpful for me, especially safety info and posing! Can’t wait for my next newborn session!
whats the song?
I wish they’d mention something- Anything- about the baby’s safety as a priority. Great job otherwise.
